Fans at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California weren’t too pleased with the action provided in their main event, but Demetrius Hopkins (30-1-1, 11 KOs) did what he does best and out-boxed a game, but very basic, Mike Arnaoutis (22-6-2, 10 KOs) for a 10-round unanimous decision.
The script never changed throughout the bout…Hopkins owned the outside game from the opening bell and fought efficiently and effectively against an Arnaoutis who did make efforts to press the action, but just couldn’t get to the veteran Philadelphia fighter.
Judges’ scores were: 99-91, 99-91, and 100-90. The BTBC also had it scored 99-91 in favor of Hopkins.
The Grades:
Match-up: B

Overall: C
On the Undercard:
Lightweight prospect, Francisco Contreras (15-0, 13 KOs) won a unanimous 8 round decision over Eric Cruz (7-4-3, 7 KOs) with scores of 80-72, 80-72 and 78-74. The Dominican prospect, Contreras, looked good, but nowhere as dominant as his record would suggest. With wide punches and inconsistent defense, it’s obvious that the 26-year old Contreras is still a work in progress at this stage.
