As the rumors and buzz suggested, Shane Mosley and Sergio Mora will meet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, September 18th as part of a Mexican Independence Day pay-per-view.
The card will also feature Saul Alvarez, Mexico’s well-regarded Jr. Middleweight prospect. Another rumored fight for the undercard is Victor Ortiz vs. a “name” opponent, possibly Vivian Harris.
The Mosley-Mora, Jr. Middleweight match-up means that Andre Berto, who had been in negotiations with Mosley, but couldn’t come to financial terms, will have to find another opponent for his September 25th HBO date. Early candidates include Alfonso Gomez and prospect, Mike Jones, but the feeling is that HBO may not give the green light to either possible opponent.
Mora will also be pulling out of his July 23rd bout with J.C. Candelo.
Expect Golden Boy to angle for a Miguel Cotto bout for the winner in early 2011.
