Adamek Beats Grant

The Prudential Center in Newark, NJ– In a better than anticipated heavyweight clash, Tomasz Adamek (42-1, 27 KOs) took a unanimous decision over former world title challenger, 6 ft 7, Michael Grant (46-4, 34 KOs).

Adamek used his superior speed, footwork and conditioning to hit and run against Grant and would pretty much stick to this game plan throughout the bout.

Grant lacked the fire and aggression to take command of the bout, but he did manage to buzz Adamek twice (At the end of the sixth and in the twelfth) and cut the Polish heavyweight over both eyes. Overall, though, Grant was too passive to take advantage of his physical edge.

The judges’ scorecards were fair: 117-111, 118-110, 118-111. The Boxing Tribune also scored it 117-111 for Adamek.

On the undercard, Joel Julio (36-4, 31 KOs) began a comeback following his loss to Alfredo Angulo in April by winning a unanimous decision against Jamaal Davis. Scores were 97-93, 98-92, 99-93.

Olympian, Sadam Ali (9-0, 5 KOs), easily did away with veteran journeyman, Lenin Arroyo (20-13-1, 4 KOs). The end came in the fifth via crushing body shot.
