WBA welterweight belt holder Viacheslav Senchenko (31-0, 20 KOs) defends his title against Marco Antonio Avendano (30-7-1, 22 KOs) at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine, Friday August 26.

Senchenko was made World Champion in 2009 after Shane Mosley defeated Antonio Margarito to claim the WBA’s welterweight Super Championship. Prior to being named world champion he held the WBA’s Inter-Continental title. Senchenko has defended his title against fellow Ukrainian Yuriy Nuzhenko, Japanese fringe contender Motoki Sasaki, and most recently against Charlie Navarro.

Avendano has faced respectable opposition in his career. He beat Canadian fringe contender Fitz Vanderpool in 2005, but has suffered losses to Ricardo Mayorga, Joachim Alcine, Sebastian Lujan, and Nobuhiro Ishida. Avendano’s last two wins have come against fighters with a combined record of 0-11, with 10 losses coming by way of knockout.
