IBF, WBA, and WBO world heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, has pulled out of Saturday’s title defense against France’s Jean Marc Mormeck after undergoing two operations in as many days to remove a kidney stone.
Klitschko’s abdominal discomfort began on Friday and the 35-year-old champ was taken to the hospital for examination. Klitschko was later released, only to return both Saturday and Sunday for procedures to remove the kidney stone.
Pending IBF approval, the defense against the former cruiserweight titlist, Mormeck, will likely be re-scheduled for March 3.
