Russian fighters Rakhim Chakhkiev (11-0, 9KOs) and Alexander Kotlobay (21-2-1, 15KOs) will face each other on Saturday, January 28th. The fight will take place at the Elysee Grand Hotel in Hamburg, Germany.
Chakhkiev is an undefeated southpaw who, at the age of twenty-nine, takes a half-step forward in his professional career with this bout. His last three bouts were won by knockout and he’s had two fights go the distance allowing him to see the sixth and eighth rounds. Chakhkiev had a successful amateur career and began his professional career in October 2009.
Kotlobay has won three of his last four, with the loss coming against Enzo Maccarinelli who is now 33-5. On paper it appears that Kotlobay has seen better opposition in the ring, with four of his last five opponents having fought more than thirty times. Saturday will determine if that experience is enough to defeat an up-and-coming prospect.
Universum’s fight card will feature eleven bouts, including Juergen Braehmer vs. Jose Maria Guerrero in the light heavyweight division and two heavyweight bouts with Ruslan Chagaev vs. Kertson Manswell and Denis Boytsov vs. Darnell Wilson.
