WBA junior flyweight champ, Roman “El Chocolatito” Gonzalez (31-0, 26 KOs) will look to make the fourth defense of his title against former WBO junior flyweight titlist, Ramon Garcia Hirales (16-3-1, 9 KOs) this Saturday at the Fairplex Arena in Pomona, California.

Gonzalez, even at only 24 years of age, is a two-division world champ and regarded as one of the sport’s best offensive fighters with an 8-0 record and five knockouts in world title fights. In his last bout, a non-title contest in March, he knocked out overmatched Manuel Jimenez in the first round. Gonzalez’s current run as 108 lb. champ began in 2010 with a second round knockout of defending WBA interim titlist, Francisco Rosas. The Nicaragua native was later given full champ status by the sanctioning body.

Mexican challenger, Hirales, briefly held the WBO junior flyweight title, beating Jesus Geles for the belt in April of last year. He would lose the title, however, via unanimous decision in his first defense, six months later. The southpaw from La Paz, Baja California has lost two of his last three bouts, but may be one of Gonzalez’s most experienced, well-seasoned opponents to date with seven legitimate Top 20 fighters on his recent resume.

Gonzalez-Hirales will be broadcast Saturday, April 28 on Azteca America at 10PM ET/PT. Nigerian welterweight prospect, Wale Omotoso (21-0, 18 KOs) will be featured on the televised undercard in a bout aginst overmatched club fighter, Larry Smith (10-9, 7 KOs).
