Boxing Rankings Update: Chavez moves down, Ponce de Leon and Hernandez step up, more…

A few changes in this week’s rankings update:

Sergio Martinez keeps his #1 spot in the middleweight division with Saturday’s unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. while Chavez Jr. falls from #2 to #3 in the division.

Yoan Pablo Hernandez assumes the #1 ranking at cruiserweight following  Saturday’s win over Troy Ross. Former #1, Marco Huck, falls to #2

Sergio Thompson beat Carlos Claudio via TKO 2 on Saturday’s Alvarez-Lopez undercard and moves up from #10 to #9 in the lightweight division

At featherweight, Daniel Ponce de Leon moves up to #2 from #7 after Saturday’s WBC featherweight title-winning technical decision over Jhonny Gonzalez. After the upset, Gonzalez falls to #3 from #2.
