IBF junior middleweight champion Carlos Molina was set to make the first defense of his belt this Saturday against Jermall Charlo on the Alvarez-Angulo PPV undercard, but now his very career may be in doubt.
Molina was arrested Tuesday morning in Las Vegas because of warrants from the state of Wisconsin for obstruction and failure to register as a sex offender.
According to Yahoo’s Kevin Iole, Molina was convicted in 2002 of a class C felony for sex with someone under the age of 16. The 30-year-old fighter, who was born and raised in Mexico, is also facing immigration issues stemming from these crimes.
Currently, Molina-Charlo is still scheduled for the PPV telecast, but Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer is planning on elevating the undercard Ricardo Alvarez-Sergio Thompson bout to the televised card should Molina be unavailable.
