Top Rank has just announced that WBA “regular” junior welterweight champ Jessie Vargas (25-0, 9 KOs) will face former lightweight titlist Antonio DeMarco (31-3-1, 23 KOs) on the November 22 Manny Pacquiao-Chris Algieri undercard in Macau. This second defense of Vargas’ belt will round out the televised portion of that evening’s PPV broadcast.
Vargas, who has been itching as of late for a crack at one of the division’s elite, will have his chance at a nice showcase bout against a fighter in DeMarco who always does his share to produce fireworks. For Demarco, this represents the Mexican’s first chance at a main stage bout since losing his WBC lightweight title via eighth round TKO to Adrien Broner in 2012.
Vargas-DeMarco joins Vasyl Lomachenko (2-1, 1 KO) vs. Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (52-1, 33 KOs) and China’s Zou Shiming (5-0, 1 KO) vs. Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym (27-0-2, 12 KOs) on the Pacquiao-Algieri PPV undercard.
