Peter Quillin
Another “All-Haymon” bout, this one would require some swift talking and hefty step-aside money for Hassan N’Dam in order to happen.
Quillin, who vacated his WBO middleweight title rather than face Top Rank’s Matt Kotobov on a Roc Nation Sports’ card, could only conceivably fight Taylor for the IBF title if the right palms were greased and mandatory challenger, N’Dam, agreed to step aside. The move would guarantee a Daniel Jacobs vs. Taylor-Quillin winner title unification bout for the first half of 2015.
Competitively, this has the potential to be an ugly mismatch with the clubbing Quillin battering a slowed-down, tentative Taylor. After this one, calls for Taylor’s retirement will be even greater.
