An interesting middleweight bout has been signed to headline an HBO triple-header from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York December 6. Per Golden Boy matchmaker, Eric Gomez, Canadian slugger David Lemieux will make his U.S. debut, taking on cagey Philly veteran Gabriel Rosado in a twelve round 160 lb. clash.
The popular Lemieux (32-2, 30 KOs) is 7-0 since back-to-back loses to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine threatened to sideline his career in 2011. In his most recent bout, the Montreal native stopped fellow-prospect/fringe contender, Fernando Guerrero in three rounds.
Rosado (21-8, 13 KOs) comes into this fight after stopping Brian Vera in a BKB bout in August. In the boxing ring, the battle-tested veteran is 0-3 with one no contest in his last four bouts, losing to Gennady Golovkin, Peter Quillin, and Jermell Charlo. The no contest was against J’Leon Love, who initially took a decision over Rosado, but received the no contest after testing positive for a banned substance.
According to Gomez, Hugo Centeno vs. James De La Rosa will also be featured on the card with a third bout to be announced later.
