Sharif and Hasim Rahman Jr., 18 and 24 respectively, have filed a lawsuit in the Clark County District Court of Las Vegas against Floyd Mayweather, Mayweather Promotions, and Showtime over the sparring sessions shown on Showtime’s All Access reality program.
The Rahman Brothers, who are sons of former heavyweight champ Hasim Rahman, claim that they were threatened and coerced into dangerous sparring sessions for extended periods of time while Mayweather presided, making side bets and, in the case of the younger Rahman, threatening physical violence outside the ring should he leave before the end of his session with Donovan Cameron.
Late last month, Mayweather was ordered to appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for questioning regarding the alleged “fight to the death” sparring at Mayweather’s gym showcased on the All Access program. Mayweather testified that the sparring session in question, as well as many other aspects of the All Access program, were fabricated for dramatic purposes. The NSAC would subsequently clear Mayweather of all charges.
The Rahman lawsuit, however, asserts that Mayweather “knowingly misrepresented the facts while testifying before the Nevada Athletic Commission.” The brothers insist that they also never signed any sort of release granting permission to feature them in the Showtime filming.
