The gatekeepers are former champs, holding the strap until someone dethrones them. They’re fighters who take fights on short notice for a paycheck.

Their phone is never silent as big time promoters are constantly calling for their services. They’re the backbone of boxing as, simply, the opponent.

Josesito Lopez: ” Riverside Rocky” was an unknown commodity when he defeated Victor Ortiz, breaking his jaw and his spirit in the process. At 33-6, he has faced four World Champions

He lost a SD to current WBA Champion, Jessie Vargas. He was stopped by former WBC Jr. Middleweight Champion, Canelo Alvarez. He was also defeated by former WBA Welterweight Champion, Marcos Maidana

He’s defeated prospects Mike Dallas Jr and Marvin Cordova. He was beaten by one time prospect, Wes Ferguson.

He’s held the NABF and WBC Silver Titles

He vied for but lost at a shot for the WBF Intercontinental title to Miguel Angel Gonzalez

Derrick Findley: “Superman” has faced numerous world champions, contenders and prospects. His record currently stands at 21-13-1

Current, pound for pound ranked, Andre Ward is the biggest name on his resume.

He’s battled contenders Andrzej Fonfara, Andre Dirrell, Matt Korobov, Fernando Guerrero, Curtis Stevens and Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez

He also has prospects J’Leon Love and Jesse Hart on his resume.

Jason Gavern: Talk about a list of prospects, contenders and former world champions.

Prospects include Amir Mansour and Lucas Browne. Undefeated fighters at the time, Mariusz Wach, Denis Boytsov and Alexander Ustinov

Contenders include Deontay Wilder and Jonathan Banks. Former World Champions include James Toney, Oleg Maskaev and Steve Cunningham.

He currently has a record of 26-17-4

Omar Sheika: The Patterson, NJ native has competed for 3 World Titles. He is currently 32-12

He lost to Joe Calzaghe for the WBO Super Middleweight Title. He lost to Eric Lucas for the WBC Super Middleweight Title. He also lost to Thomas Tate for the IBF Super Middleweight Title.

He’s also faced former World Champions, Roy Jones Jr and Jeff Lacy. Scott Pemberton bested him twice for the NABF title.
