Charlo vs Bottai
Charlo impressively stops Bottai
Jermall Charlo makes Lenny Bottai do the “stanky leg” stops him in 3 in a IBF Jr. Middleweight elimination bout.
Charlo steadily worming his jab to begin round 1. Not much action as both fighters in a feeling out process. Charlo scores with a 3-punch combination on the inside. Charlo controlling the distance with a stiff jab.
Chants of Charlo ring through the arena as Charlo catches Bottai with a picture perfect left hook. Bottia resorts to wrestling on the inside. Charlo is stepping up the action putting it on Bottai here in the second. Charlo punctuates the round with a big right hand.
A big right hand from Charlo floors Bottai in the opening minute of round 3. Referee Jay Nady stops the bout at 38 seconds of round 3.
“I want K-9, K-9 I want that IBF belt” stated Charlo.
Mares vs. Ramirez
Mares dominant in Vegas tonight
Abner Mares suffocates and drowns Jose Ramirez in deep waters, stopping him in 6 in a Super Featherweight bout.
Mares drills Ramirez with a left hook to the body, dropping him. These young men came to fight as they trade on the inside. Mares is catching Ramirez with every right hand he throws. Good, competitive round from both fighters.
Mares is catching Ramirez coming out of exchanges, usually with a right hook. Ramirez isn’t backing down though as he continues to trade Mares. Mares is now landing flush left hooks onto the chin of Ramirez. Monster left hook from Mares to end the round.
It’s a phone booth battle as these little dudes bang on the inside. They have no remorse for each other as they hurl power shots onto each other. Mares drops Ramirez with a flurry of punches along the ropes. Mares is on the attack as the round comes to a close.
These boys are having the time of their lives in the squared circle tonight. Mares pounding away on the ropes as Ramirez covers up. What an exciting fight, Ramirez is rocked but comes charging back at Mares. Ramirez takes a walk around the ring at the end of round 4.
Both fighters continue to bang away as they enter the 5th round. Mares drops Ramirez with a right hand. Ramirez is deducted a point for spitting out his mouthpiece. Mares cracks Ramirez with a left hook. Mares rocks Ramirez with a 4 punch combination to end the round.
Ramirez’s corner stops the bout between rounds.
“Abner Mares is back” stated Mares. “I used my distance but Ramirez was a tough guy. This is the type of fight the fans want”. “I’m going to be a 4 division champion, I want a rematch with Johnny Gonzales”.
Thurman vs. Bundu
The Judges are more disappointing than Thurman; Thurman calls out Marcos Maidana
Keith “One Time” Thurman shuts out Leonard Bundu, not the crowd in a Welterweight bout.
Thurman with a beautifully placed right hand, drops Bundu. Thurman looks focused in the first round. Thurman is leaping in and out with his combinations.
Thurman is on point, delivering perfect placed shots to the body of Bundu. Bundu has come to fight as he stands and trades with Thurman. Another solid round for Thurman.
They trade left hooks in the center of the ring as Thurman gets the better of the exchange. Bundu is switching from orthodox to southpaw but Thurman isn’t having issues with it.
Thurman is counter punching to start round 4. The boo birds are out as the action has slowed throughout the fight. Both fighters pick up the pace to end the round.
Thurman is reluctant to press the action. As Bundu comes forward, the fighters trade left hooks. Another slow round as the fans voice their disapproval.
A whole bunch of posing and posturing going on in round 6. Bundu with a nice left hook to end another restless round.
Thurman isn’t his usual self tonight, he’s moving around the ring a lot, not sitting down on his punches and not impressing the fans. Bundu isn’t doing enough to win the rounds but he’s doing his best to make it a competitive fight.
Bundu jumping all over Thurman along the ropes. Thurman is winning the fight but the crowd is growing restless.
Round 9- crickets…
Round 10- Boooo!!!! The crowd is disapproving of the action. Thurman with a nice left hook to end the round.
The fight is becoming painful to watch. Thurman had a chance to make a stament tonight and he laid an egg.
All three judges score the bout 120-107 for Keith Thurman.
“Bundu was tricky, he came to survive, not win” Stated Thurman. “I was more accurate in every round but tonight was a learning experience”.
“I want Marcos Maidana in 2015” stated Thurman after the fight
Khan vs. Alexander
Khan makes a case for a Mayweather bout, makes joke of Alexander.
Khan coming out firing combinations but Alexander is right there firing back. Khan with a nice combination. Alexander with a nice straight left, I think he hurt Khan.
Khan pressing the action to begin round 2. Alexander with a straight left hand down the pipe. Khan with a counter right hand to head of Alexander. The action is picking up to end round 2.
Khan with a right hand to the chin of Alexander. The fighters trade punches in the center of the ring. A highly competitive round but Khan is doing more.
The fighters are mixing it up as Khan lands a left hook on the inside. Khan is pressuring Alexander in round 4, causing Alexander to fight off his back foot. Khan tags Alexander a beautifully place right hand to end the round.
Khan is slowly taking over the fight as we enter the 5th round. Alexander with a big left hand but it catches mostly glove. Alexander only throwing one punch at a time. Khan is tagging Alexander in the 5th round.
Khan with a left hook to the head of Alexander. Khan with a nice 1-2 in the center of the ring. Khan is building a lead on my scorecard.
Khan unleashing combinations in round 6. Khan just out classing Alexander through 6 rounds. Khan’s hand speed is proving to be too much for Alexander.
Khan is on point tonight as he picks apart Alexander. The intensity is picking between both fighters as they land big shots. Another solid round for Khan.
Khan is on another level tonight, simply too much for Alexander through 8 rounds
Khan is executing a nice game plan as he dictates the action in round 9. A series of right hands from Khan has Alexander backing up. Khan is making a statement with his performance tonight.
Khan isn’t slowing down as presses forward in round 10. Alexander has no answer for Khan’s hand speed. It’s a blatant mismatch in favor of Khan.
Amir Khan closes the bout by out boxing and out classing Alexander over the final 2 rounds. All Khan tonight, masterful performance.
