IBF middleweight titlist, Jermain Taylor has been ordered by a Little Rock, Arkansas judge to undergo evaluation at a mental health facility pending a bond hearing to determine whether the fighter is a danger to himself or anyone else.
Taylor, who was already facing charges in the shooting of his cousin last August, was arrested and charged last week with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a minor when police say he allegedly opened fire and threatened to shoot a family at Little Rock’s Martin Luther King Day parade.
Taylor’s attorney, Hubert Alexander, said that the evaluation will consist of a full mental health exam, as well as a neuropsychological evaluation.
“Everybody is saying this isn’t the Jermain Taylor they know,” Alexander told media. “We’re trying to figure out who in the heck it is.”
