Gennady Golovkin, Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev, Wlad Klitschko, Murat “Iron” Gassiev, and Artur Beterbiev offer great entertainment as they stampede through the boxing landscape. Andrey Fedosov, who fights like a Rocky Marciano with his bull rushes, will likely win the Boxcino Heavyweight finals. However, there is a new monster on the horizon and he has waxed every opponent he has faced including seasoned Puerto Rican contender Francisco Palacios and even more seasoned Juan Pablo Gomez
Dmitry “The Russian Hammer” Kudryashov is 17-0 (KO 17) specializes in spectacular and scary knockout wins. His latest fight took place on April 10 in Moscow on the Denis Lebedev (speaking of scary) vs. Youri Kalenga undercard when he defended his WBA International cruiserweight title against Palacios who twice previously had gone the distance with former WBC World champ Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk and was supposed to present a challenge for the Hammer. The challenge lasted less than a minute
Kudryashov opened quickly by using his jab to begin the stalk and then, out of nowhere, he launched a classic double left hook first downstairs and then to the temple that rendered Palacios smoked like a blunt as in unconscious. The referee stopped counting and quickly called for first aid as Palacios needed two minutes before coming to and and a few more minutes before he was able to sit on his chair. Thankfully, the heavily tattooed Palacios recovered but remained groggy for some time. It was a scary ending in a fight that lasted only 52 seconds. Juan Carlos Gomez
Previously on November 28, 2014, a still viable Juan Carlos Gomez (54-4 coming in) met a similar fate but this one was even quicker as the Cuban native was hammered in only 22 seconds of the first round in Moscow. In this mugging, Kudryashov landed several heavy rights to the body and then a nifty left hook and- crunching right cross combo to the head that leveled Gomez for the full count like he had been hit by a –well—hammer and he too needed help to get up and steady himself as can be seen as follows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TinPnZWpc3c
All of a sudden, a new force, Dmitry Kudryashov, has emerged as a top-tier prospect. Soon he will join
Wlad Klitschko 63 (53)-3
Gregory Drozd 39 (27)-1
Artur Beterbiev – 8(8)-0
Gennady Golovkin 32 (29)-0
Sergey Kovalev – 27(24)-0
As still another fan-friendly monster emerges from Eastern Europe.
