Joshua vs Parker – why Joshua will triumph

Ever since his victory over WladimirKlitschko in 2017, Anthony Joshua has become the new hope of heavyweight boxing for many. The heavyweight world had stagnated somewhat, as a result of the dominance of the Klitschko brothers. Now Joshua seems to be spearheading a new and exciting era.

On 31 March 2018, Joshua is set to crank the excitement up another notch by talking one step closer to becoming undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The man in his way is current WBO champion Joseph Parker. The Kiwi certainly has his merits but the betting suggests that Joshua will achieve the win he is looking for.

Betting in favour of Joshua

Anyone who has seen the latest betting odds will know that placing a wager on a Joshua win provides no real value. The British fighter is hot favourite with odds of 1/10 being offered by the big bookmakers such as Coral and Betway.

Bets away from just a Joshua victory provide more value for the investment. For instance, Paddy Power is offering 18/1 on a Joshua win in round one and Betway is offering 7/2 on the fight going the distance. It’s also worth a look at the latest Joshua Parker betting offers, to check for free bets and other bonuses that may be available.

Why Joshua will win

There is little doubt that most money is on Joshua to beat Parker, at the Principality Stadium. It’s a case of deja vu for the Watford born fighter who was victorious against Carlos Takam at the same venue, in October 2017. The fight that night was a difficult one for Joshua, and an excellent test of stamina.

He will need this attribute against Parker, a fighter who has a reputation for staying on his feet and going the distance. It will certainly not be an easy challenge for Joshua, but he is the most feared heavyweight fighter right now, and he has the advantage of strong home support.

After the victory

If the predictions are correct, and Joshua does emerge from the bout on 31 March with another world title belt to add to his tally, his next opponent could be WBC champion Deontay Wilder. The American is certainly keen to take Joshua on. This could be Joshua’s chance to become undisputed heavyweight champion. He has more technical boxing ability than Wilder , but the American’s raw power should not be underestimated.

The possible meeting with Wilder is still for the future. Joshua needs to get past the significant challenge from Parker first. The New Zealander is not an easy opponent; both Wilder and Evander Holyfield have spoken about his potential to cause an upset against Joshua. But, this looks like a fight that is Joshua’s to loose. If he uses all of the skill and power that he has at his disposal, victory should be his. Then, he can look towards the future and a potentially explosive meeting with Wilder.
