Defending WBA light heavyweight champ, Beibut Shumenov (11-1, 7 KOs) dispatched of last-minute replacement, William Joppy (39-6-2, 30 KOs) in Shumenov’s native Kazakhstan in the second defense of his 175 lb. title.
The bout was originally scheduled to be a title unification between Shumenov and WBO Champ, Juergan Braehmer, but Braehmer would back out of the contest last Tuesday, citing illness.
