Soto-Karass(L) Vs. Berto(R) Date And Venue Set.

Earlier this month(April 3rd), TheBoxingTribune.com reached out to welterweight title-contender Jesus Soto-Karass after he had just signed on to fight former world champion Andre Berto.  Though the bout had been signed, details such as exact date and venue were still up in the air.  The official date has been set for Saturday – July 27th at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.  Berto(28-2, 22 KO’s) and Soto-Karass(27-8-3, 17 KO’s) will go to battle for 12 rounds pending sanctioning body approval(s).  The main event has two televised undercard fights, all three being aired on Showtime.

The second bout of the evening will be another clash in the welterweight division between two hard-hitting undefeated prospects.  Keith Thurman(20-0, 18 KO’s), will challenge Diego Gabriel Chaves(22-0, 18 KO’s) of Argentina for the interim WBA Welterweight Championship belt.  On paper – this fight has the potential to be an explosive bout which is scheduled for 12 rounds of action.

Opening the telecast will be Welasco, TX native and fan-favorite, Omar “Panterita” Figueroa.  Figueroa(21-0-1, 17 KO’s), is coming off an impressive body-crushing knockout victory in the first round over Abner Cotto this past weekend at the Alamadome also in San Antonio, TX(on the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez Vs. Austin Trout card).  The 23 year-old rising star will put his undefeated record and rising stardom on the line over the course of 10 rounds against an opponent soon to be announced.
