Roberto Marroquin (23-3, 16 KO’s) will make his latest comeback this Saturday. The lightweight prospect takes on Alejandro Rodriguez (21-13, 12 KO’s) in a scheduled eight round contest at the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas.
Marroquin turned pro in 2008, and tallied a 19-0 record before dropping a 10 round contest to Frankie Leal in 2011. Following the loss with three consecutive victories earned him a shot at the WBA World super-bantamweight title in 2012, but he was soundly beaten by title holder Guillermo Rigondeaux. He’s since went 1-1, most recently losing a 10 round decision to Daniel Diaz after being dropped twice in the opening frame.
Rodriguez is coming off a pair of wins over Marino Mercado, and had lost four bouts prior.
