Nearly 10 months since his last outing, former NABF lightweight title holder Anthony Peterson was supposed to return to the ring Friday night, headlining an Iron Mike Productions card in Washington D.C. The younger brother of light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson was rumored to be facing Francisco Contreras. Azim Spicer, C.O.O. for Iron Mike Productions told Boxingscene.com the card has been postponed indefinitely due to time limitations regarding promotion of the event. Although the card is still listed on boxrec.com, it’s not happening.
Peterson was 30-0 until he was disqualified in the seventh round of a WBA world title eliminator against Brandon Rios in September of 2010. Since then he’s fought twice; an eight round decision over Daniel Attah in 2011, and after being inactive in 2012 he came back to stop Dominic Salcido in two rounds last May.
