On Saturday night, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York continues its run of hosting championship boxing events when WBO 140-pound titlist Ruslan Provodnikov (23-2, 16 KOs) takes on Chris Algieri (19-0, 8 KOs) in the main event of HBO’s “Boxing After Dark”. In the co-feature, Demetrius Andrade (20-0, 13 KOs) defends his WBO junior middleweight belt against England’s Brian Rose (25-1-1, 7 KOs). Also on the card, Long Island light heavyweight Sean Monaghan (21-0, 14 KOs) puts his undefeated record on the line against veteran Elvir Muriqi (40-6, 24 KOs) and Heather Hardy (9-0, 2 KOs) fights Jackie Trivilino (9-7-3, 1 KO) in the first ever women’s bout at the Barclays.
It was apparent at today’s weigh-in that Rose will be well represented on fight night; as many flag carrying Englishmen showed up to watch their man mount the scale. The Barclays Atrium erupted after some jawing back and forth between Rose and Andrade; it then simmered down as the combatants of the non-televised bouts weighed in.
