Late yesterday, Polish heavyweight contender and former cruiserweight and light heavyweight champ, Tomasz Adamek (43-1, 28 KOs), announced that a deal had been reached for him to face one of the Klitschko brothers in a September showdown in Adamek’s native Poland.
In the meantime, Adamek will have an April tune-up bout in Poland while Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko take on Dereck Chisora on April 30th and Odlanier Solis on March 19th., respectively.
Adamek could face either brother, depending on who emerges victorious from their upcoming bouts. If both Klitschkos win their contests, the choice will be theirs as to who gets the Adamek bout, with Team Adamek being informed of the decision within 90 days of the scheduled contest.
Adamek is 5-0 with 2 KOs as a heavyweight since officially moving up in weight in 2009.
The Adamek deal leaves only one small window of opportunity for a David Haye contest against one of the Klitschkos in 2011, contingent upon both Klitschkos winning their March-April bouts and then Team Haye booking a contest with the Klitschko not fighting Adamek in September.
