Saul Alvarez failed to make the agreed upon catchweight limit of 150 lbs. today for his WBC jr. middleweight title fight against Matthew Hatton Saturday.
Alvarez weighed in at 151.8 lbs. on his first try and 151.4 lbs on his second attempt, after a 30-minute break.
Hatton, who has been a career-long welterweight, weighed in at a comfortable 149.6 lbs.
Alvarez will lose $70,000 of his $350,000 purse (20%) with half going to Hatton and the other half going to the California State Athletic Commission.
