Francisco “Panchito” Arce (31-6-3, 22 KOs) will be looking to follow in the championship footsteps of his older brother, Jorge (who recently upset Wilfredo Vazquez jr. for a share of the jr. featherweight title), against WBA interim bantamweight champ, Hugo Ruiz (27-1, 25 KOs) this Saturday.
The 29-year old Arce has failed in his two highest profile contests– dropping a split decision to Cristian Mijares in a 2010 bantamweight bout for the NABF title and losing a unanimous decision in an IBF super flyweight title eliminator against Simphiwe Nongqayi in 2009.
Ruiz, 22, is coming off his best career win to date– a belt-winning a nine round technical decision over Alvaro Perez in January.
The contest, billed as “Mochis vs. Mochis” will be held at the Polideportivo Centenario in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, which is the hometown of both fighters.
