Entertainment Centre, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia– Australia’s Anthony Mundine (43-4, 25 KOs) defeated Mexico’s Rigoberto Alvarez (27-4, 20 KOs) via unanimous points decision to win the WBA interim junior middleweight title Wednesday by scores of 114-113, 117-111, 117-111.
Post-fight, Mundine expressed a desire to fight American WBA junior middleweight titlist, Austin Trout, next.
