The heavyweight bout between American contender Kevin Johnson (25-1-1, 11 KOs) and Australian Alex Leapai (25-3-3, 20 KOs), which was scheduled for March 18, has been postponed two weeks. The fight has been rescheduled to take place April 1.
Johnson will be seeking to continue his winning ways in hopes of earning another title shot, while Leapai will be aiming for his biggest win to date.
Once regarded as America’s top heavyweight prospect, Johnson’s career suffered a huge setback when he was shut out versus WBC champion Vitali Klitschko in 2009. Since then, he has won three fights in a row, albeit against less-than-notable competition.
Reports out of the Johnson camp indicate their fighter was struggling with flu-like symptoms, and so he was forced to pull out of the original date of March 18.
