Balzsay stops Sartison; Chagaev, Braehmer, Gomez victorious in Germany

Sport and Congress Center, Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany–

Karoly Balzsay (25-2, 18 KOs) stopped Dimitri Sartison (29-2, 18 KOs) in the twelfth and final round in defense of his paper version of the WBA super middleweight title (Andre Ward holds the legitimate WBA 168 lb. world title).

Former heavyweight titlist, Ruslan Chagaev (29-2-1, 18 KOs) stopped journeyman, Billy Zumbrun (25-13-1, 15 Kos) in the third round of a scheduled eight round contest.

Former light heavyweight world titlist, Juergen Braehmer (38-2, 30 KOs) took a unanimous ten round decision over Namibia’s Vikapita Meroro (21-4, 9 KOs).

Former cruiserweight world champ and world heavyweight title challenger, Cuba’s Juan Carlos Gomez (50-3, 38 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over former cruiserweight world title challenger, Darnell “Ding-a-ling man” Wilson (24-15-3, 20 KOs). Wilson has now lost nine of his last ten bouts.
