Over the past weekend it was announced that former amateur standout and 2008 U.S. Olympian Sadam Ali has signed a promotional agreement with Golden Boy Promotions. Ali, 24, is a native of Brooklyn, NY, who is an undefeated welterweight with a professional record consisting of 16-0, with 10 of those victories coming by way of knockout. Ali had previously fought under his own promotional banner, World Kid Promotions, but it was ultimately too small an operation to catapult the fighter’s career to the next level. Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya stated that his company has been scouting Ali for some time, and are excited as they plan to showcase him on cards in his native Brooklyn, at the Barclay’s Center. Ali has not fought since October of last year, but will likely be making his Golden Boy debut in the very near future.
