Over the weekend it was announced that Tyson Fury’s uncle, Hughie Fury, passed away due to complications of a blood clot in his leg.
According to the Fury family, Hughie had spent eleven weeks in intensive care after an effort to repair a damaged knee with a pin resulted in a blood clot that left Fury fighting for his life.
Hughie’s turn for the worse forced Tyson to withdraw from his scheduled July bout with Alexander Ustinov.
Following the announcement, Tyson Fury issued the following statement via his official Twitter account: “Tragic loss for the Fury family. Uncle Hughie Fury. Forever in my heart & life. RIP. Gone to see Jesus.”
