The latest in AIBA Pro Boxing saw French bantamweight Khedafi Djelkhir (3-1) win the inaugural bantamweight crown, taking an eight round decision over 2012 Argentine Olympian, Alberto Melian (3-1) at the Palais des sports Marcel Cerdan in France.
Melian, who had won the first bout between the two, took control in the opening frame, but his French counterpart won the following two rounds and as Melian faded in the latter half on the bout, Djelkhir would win the final four frames as well. Final scores were tallied at 78:74 across the board for Djelkhir, who wins the APB’s 10th world title contest, now putting champions in every weight class.
