On the pro side of things, it was a pretty light weekend. In Rochester, New York, former WBC featherweight champ Melissa Hernandez (20-6-3, 6 KO’s) won an eight round decision over Ashleigh Curry (6-9-4, 1 KO) at the Main Street Armory. Hernandez has held titles in four weight divisions for three different sanctioning bodies, winning her first belt in her seventh pro bout back in 2006. Her most recent world title contest was a close technical decision loss to Jelena Mrdjenovich in 2013.
World title challengers Jennifer Han (12-3-1, 1 KO) and Fatuma Zarika (24-10-2, 14 KO’s) faced off in El Paso, Texas. Han picked up her second straight win, taking a comfortable 10 round unanimous decision and winning the vacant IBF Inter-Continental featherweight title.
