No Country for Old Men: Part Six

Bobby Gunn, 43, makes another appearance in this series as he met and KOd hapless 41-year-old James “Jammin”’” Morrow (12-21-3) in a 12-rounder at Charlie’s Harley-Davidson Dealership and Diner in Huntington, West Virginia.  This was a rematch as Gunn (now 22-7-1) and Morrow fought in July 2008. Gunn won by TKO 5 in a scrap for something called the vacant International Boxing Council Inter-Continental cruiserweight title.

“Jammin’” went undefeated in his first 9 pro fights but then won only 4 more between 2006 and 2016, He  has won just once in his last 15 and that was against 41-year-old Michael Shanks (6-31) who in turn  beat Tyrone Bledsoe (3-35) in his debut back 1999. He is 1-0-1 against the dreadful 47-year-old James Rice (7-48-6). This could go on and on but you get the idea.

Here is a YouTube of Morrow fighting Matt Short to a dubious draw in a fight that featured everything except boxing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-CbdcbS1XA  Arguably, it is one of the worse fights ever put on YouTube.

As for Gunn, he lost badly to aging Roy Jones Jr. on February 17 at the Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware but apparently still has the fire in his belly for both bare knuckles and boxing. Jones used Bobby as a human punching bag before the slaughter was finally stopped.. This time, Gunn used Morrow for the same purpose.

Oh dear. This just what UFC fight fans don’t get. Boxing is a skill. Connor McGregor against floyd in a boxing match is a joke mismatch as we have never seen before.

These type of fights give boxing a bad name and should not happen.
