Former IBF Middleweight Champion and Super Six Tournament participant, Arthur Abraham (32-3, 26KOs) will take on Argentinian Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias (19-1, 11KOs). The fight will take place at the Baden Arena in Offenburg, Germany on Saturday, January 14th.
Ranked 9th in the world among super middleweights, Abraham has lost three of his last five bouts. The two wins came against Jermain Taylor (KO 12) and Stjepan Bozic (TKO 2). The losses came against Andre Dirrell (DQ 11), Carl Froch (UD 12) and Andre Ward (UD 12). The DQ loss resulted when Abraham hit his opponent who was on the canvas after a slip. Abraham’s plan is to resurrect his career at 160 lbs. but he’s taking his first bout since losing to Ward in the Super Six semifinals at 168 lbs.
Farias has just one loss on record. In his last fight he faced Jose Alberto Clavero and suffered a knockdown in the first round. In round 5 he KO’d Clavero but was disqualified because the knockout punch came as the ref started to walk over to separate the two fighters, who had been wrapped up. Farias has yet to face top contenders in the division, but a win over Abraham will give him that chance.
The co-feature will showcase WBO Super Middleweight Champion Robert Stieglitz (40-2, 23KOs) against Henry Weber (15-0-1, 3KOs).
