Jr. middleweight title contender, James Kirkland (25-0, 22 KOs), who has been inactive since March, 2009 due to a prison stint for felony possession of a firearm while on parole, will return to the ring this Saturday on the Saul Alvarez-Matthew Hatton undercard at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Kirkland will be facing Ahsandi Gibbs (10-2, 4 KOs) in a middleweight contest and is also scheduled to be fighting one month later on the Marcos Maidana-Erik Morales undercard, April 9th.
Kirkland’s last contest was a six-round stoppage of Joel Julio in March of 2009; Gibbs is on a two-fight losing streak against club-level opposition.
