We have the dog days of summer, and I can’t think of a better way to beat the heat than Jaron “Boots” Ennis fight week. No cap. The IBF Champ from Philadephia is making his hometown return against David Avanesyan at the Wells Fargo Center, live at 8 p.m. ET on the streaming platform DAZN. Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs) is making the 1st defense of the IBF title against replacement Avanesyan (30-4-1, 18 KOs), who stepped in for Cody Crowley in the bout after being ruled out for medical reasons. On paper, it’s an excellent showcase fight tailor-made for Ennis.

Ennis made the headlines in April when he signed a multi-fight deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing. At the time, Ennis stated, “I can’t wait to continue making my mark and becoming undisputed World champion. I’ve been out of the ring for a year, and I cannot wait to get back in and do what I do best; entertain the fans and put on clinics. There are blockbuster fights on the horizon for me, and I am ready to deliver them.” While no belts are on the line in this contest except his IBF strap, Ennis hopes “Earn with Hearn” will get him one step closer to that goal.

PREDICTIONS FOR ENNIS VS. AVANESYAN
Ennis’s dominance in the ring is a sight to behold. With Ennis as roughly a 20 to 1 favorite to retain against Avanesyan, according to oddsmakers across the sportsbooks, the excitement for him is real. As per Pro Boxing Odds, Ennis’s streak of stoppages over the years makes this line par for the course. However, once the bell rings on this main event, I agree and expect this fight to play similarly to Ennis’s stoppage win against Sergey Lipinets back in 2021. Take any mid-round KO prop for Ennis if you are in the short-term investment market for entertainment purposes.
