Oscar De La Hoya Smashes Eddie Hearn for Infidelity, Lack of Manliness in Wild Thanksgiving Clapback

With cranberry sauce and flecks of stuffing still moist on his Thanksgiving fishnets (I’m presuming), Oscar De La Hoya launched a brutal holiday assault on competing promoter Eddie Hearn this past Thursday. It was the ugly boxing equivalent of shitting in the mashed potatoes at the family dinner and tossing them at your annoying cousin Joey.

Anyway, the former multi-division world champ and founder of Golden Boy Promotions went right for the jugular with his latest Holiday Clapback Thursday, closing the social media video post with a vicious left hook powered by the widespread rumors of the very married Hearn’s alleged infidelities.

“So Eddie, you made a fool of yourself in the ring in Dallas after the Katie Taylor fight and the co-founder of Jake Paul’s company Most Valuable Promotions, Nakisa Bidarian is questioning your erratic behavior,” De La Hoya ‘clapped.’ “I think I may know the answer. It’s no secret that Eddie and Skye Nicolson have been linked romantically since 2022. Rumors have been flying about them in the boxing community for years.

“And as I investigate further it’s becoming clear that there’s likely some unethical and preferential treatment happening here. Here you are in Miami with Skye outside a club, you look mighty uncomfortable walking away from the camera as soon as you saw it. You guys look pretty cozy. Eddie, when you should’ve been focused on promoting the trilogy between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor, which would likely be the biggest fight ever in women’s history, you were focused immediately on setting up your rumored girlfriend to fight Amanda Serrano.

“You made it too obvious, my man. No wonder you’re like 0-16 this year, you’re distracted as hell. Eddie, I know you’re a trust fund kid and nobody showed you how men are supposed to behave, so here’s a few lessons. We don’t get our steaks well done, we don’t wear like baby bjorns, we don’t go to brunch, and we sure as hell don’t shit where we eat. Get it together, dude. And I guess I was wrong on one thing, you’re not lonesome Eddie, you’re linked to several women, so you’re phony Eddie.”

Ouch.

Oscar does, however, leave himself open to counters with the whole “nobody showed you how men are supposed to behave, so here’s a few lessons” stuff. Because, well, I mean…”how men are supped to behave” doesn’t usually involve cross-dressing and alleged ass play with kitchen utensils and bottle caps. But this IS a new era with new standards, so, who knows?

Standing on high ground over a rival’s chronic infidelity, though, is probably not all that smart of a move for someone with Oscar’s history to try.

Anyway, De La Hoya isn’t saying anything that hasn’t been talked about in back channels of boxing and boxing media by, well, just about everyone. It is pretty nasty, however, to bring it up smilingly in a quasi-comedy social media segment…on Thanksgiving.

That’s some serious catty, mean girl stuff right there. And, probably, pretty damn actionable too– which would probably explain why the Golden Boy appears to have deleted this particular Clapback Thursday [Luckily (!), other media sources– like FightHype.com– downloaded the segment before its removal].

Without its preservation, those trying to tune into the Clapback after its removal may have missed another Hearn dig as Oscar took swipes at the Matchroom Boxing head for trying to sign a bout between Hearn’s fighter Shakur Stevenson and Golden Boy prospect Floyd Schofield.

“Shakur Stevenson vs William Zepeda was all set to happen until William injured his hand fighting Tevin Farmer last weekend,” Oscar asserted [with some details that need to be stressed, like how Golden Boy has established a history of backing away from a Shakur fight for Zepeda]. “So you would naturally think Shakur would start targeting, I don’t know, a Frank Martin or a Muratalla, some other world champion right? No. Shakur and lonesome Eddie made an offer to my 22-year-old prospect Kid Austin who has no world championship experience.

“This is exactly what I mean when I say Eddie doesn’t know how to build a career. Look, Bob Arum built Shakur Stevenson to become a world champion, and in his first fight with Matchroom you actually want to put him in with a prospect, Eddie? I didn’t think it could get any lower for you but it does.”
