Ryan Garcia To Train Brother Sean, Outlines Plan: “Ostarine, Alcohol, and the Right Hook”

Ryan Garcia may be sitting out a one-year suspension after testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine– and he may have “retired” a couple of times since that sanction by the New York State Athletic Commission– but he’s, apparently, not done with boxing.

Over the weekend, Garcia’s younger brother Sean, took on the son of former world champ Fernando Vargas, Amado Vargas, and was stopped in the sixth round of their eight-round contest. The bout was featured on the undercard of the Nate Diaz-Jorge Masvidal pay-per-view show Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The 23-year-old Garcia (7-1-1, 2 KOs) fought with heart, but looked to be over his head in dealing with Vargas, who pummeled him at will and especially battered him to the body. Garcia was hurt several times over the course of the contest (dropped in the fourth round) and was clearly winded before referee Edward Collantes stepped in to call an end to the one-sided affair.

Sean’s embattled, beleaguered, and often befuddled older brother, Ryan, was in attendance for the contest, admittedly skipping rehab to take in the bout.

After the fight, Garcia announced that he’d be taking on the role of trainer for his brother and hopes to get the rematch with Vargas.

“Sean may have taken an “L,” but, great news, I wasn’t in his corner,” Garcia said via social media video post, sitting alongside his brother, drink in hand. “Vargas brothers, they’re 1-0 on us, that’s OK. We’re gonna call for the rematch and I’m the head trainer. Amado, what’s good?”

Garcia would affirm this info via standard Twitter/X post:

“So I skipped [rehab] to watch my brother get stopped that’s okay. I’ve committed to being @lilrushgee head trainer. We demand the rematch I’ll put up 250000 winner takes all.”

Garcia also leaked his training game plan when it comes to Sean, and it pretty much follows his own recent path:

“Ostarine, alcohol, and the right hook for Sean is the regiment I’m currently working on with Sean. And then the permanent ban after he makes 50 million.”

So, my strength and conditioning coach, that’s been my strength and conditioning coach for years, one man that I paid millions of dollars to…He just called the police on my brother when my brother was just defending himself because of the betrayal. So, he decided to train Amado Vargas, who fought my brother, and just betray the whole family. And he thinks it’s cool, he thinks it’s funny. He also threatened my dad so, you know, it is what it is, bro. You’re fired. You just lost the best job of your life and you messed up everything for just $5,000. I hope it was worth it, by the way. It’s kind of crazy, bro. Nobody go to TNT facility.”
