“Usyk is a fake, a liar, and a cheat,” Says Daniel Dubois’ Trainer

Daniel Dubois and his team are riding high after knocking out Anthony Joshua in five rounds at Wembley Stadium. Spirits are so high that Dubois’ trainer Don Charles is going back and burying the man who humbled his fighter a little over a year ago.

Back in 2023, in a bout for the IBF, WBA, and WBO heavyweight titles, Dubois would be stopped by defending champ Oleksandr Usyk in nine rounds after a major controversy regarding a disputed low blow four rounds earlier.

Here’s how this writer called that controversy at the time:

“After four easy Usyk rounds, Dubois landed a gut shot that sent the defending champ to the canvas. Referee Luis Pabon, who has a long history of sucking as a referee, ruled the punch an unintentional low blow and gave Usyk the customary five minutes to recover.

Subsequent replays showed the punch to be right on the belt line and, therefore, totally at the discretion of Pabon– who, I must repeat, sucks as a ref– to rule a foul or not. While it was most definitely not a nut shot, it was still, technically, within the realm of being a low blow. Similar shots in other bouts have been ruled fair play, others have been called fouls. This one was deemed a foul.”

Usyk, allowed to recover, would regain control of the bout, outclassing the 6-foot-5 challenger before putting him away in the ninth round with what was, essentially, a stiff jab.

Charles, obviously, is not over that fight and has recently asserted that Usyk faked his way to being allowed recovery time after what should’ve been ruled a legal body shot.

“Mr. Usyk is fake,” Charles told talkSPORT. “Exceptional boxer, masterful boxer, a genius of what he’s done and what he can do.

“But he’s a fake and he’s a liar and a cheat.

“It’s well documented. He is a guy who says he’s a God fearing man, he’s always crossing himself.

“This is going out to Usyk – if you believe in the same God that I and the world population do, what we refer to as God, one of the ten commandments is you cannot cheat. That’s against one of the ten commandments.

“Make your mind up, do you worship God or not? Because if you do, the cheating and the acting he did when Daniel dropped him, he should win an Oscar for that acting.”

Charles would then dig deeper into Usyk.

“The man was gone, he was gone,” he said. “I know what I saw live. I didn’t need no replays, I know what I saw live.

“The man was able to act and cheat his way back. I’ve said in many, many, many interviews. No [it was not a low blow], hell no.”

Charles insists he’s not focused right now on Usyk, but that he and his fighter would definitely take the opportunity to avenge that loss if/when the opportunity presents itself.

“Yeah, if that presents itself,” Charles insists. “Our focus is not on that. No, it’s not.

“Our focus is not on meeting Oleksandr Usyk. But should that materialize, I dare him, Usyk, to get in the ring with Daniel Dubois.”
