New week and the Grind begins anew…

* In noteworthy “page 2” weekend action: Heavyweight Nikolai Firtha upset Tony Grano via TKO 2…In a Featherweight contest, Mike Oliver beat Mauricio Pastrana via DQ 8 in a bout that saw Pastrana hit Oliver late, attempt to break his arm and tackle him to the canvas…Russian Heavyweight, Alexander Ustinov, beat Paolo Vidoz via UD 12…Former Middleweight title challenger, Lajuan Simon beat Jose Angel Rodriguez via UD 10…In Mexico, Eduardo Escobedo beat Aristides Perez via TKO 5 for the WBC Silver Featherweight belt…

*Reno, Nevada will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Jack Johnson-Jim Jeffries Heavyweight title bout, known as “The Fight of the Century.” Festivities will take place throughout the Fourth of July weekend, including a movie screening of the documentary, “Unforgivable Blackness,” a live fight card aired on Fox Sports Net and a party hosted by boxing commentator, Al Bernstein. * Salvador Sanchez II claims to have injured his hand early during his loss to Tomas Villa on Saturday.
