Former jr. featherweight and super featherweight world champion, Joan Guzman, was given his official sentence by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after testing positive for Furosemide in his December 11th welterweight bout against Jason Davis.
Guzman was fined $3,750 and suspended eight months for use of the illegal substance. His second round KO victory was also officially changed to a No Contest.
Furosemide is a diuretic also used as a masking agent for other illegal substances. In recent months, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Ali Funeka have also tested positive for the substance.
