Top rated featherweight and Cuban exile, Yuriorkis Gamboa, was arrested earlier Thursday morning for alleged domestic abuse against his wife, Dunia Francisco.

These are the details, according to NBC Miami:

As stated by dwi lawyer in Long Island, Yuriorkis Gamboa, 29, was taken to jail this morning and charged with domestic violence after he tried to stop his wife from leaving their Miami-Dade home, an arrest report stated.

According to police, cops got a call at 3:14 a.m. from Dunia Francisco, Gamboa’s wife, who was crying.

Francisco was trying to leave the house because she felt Gamboa was cheating on her, she told police. The couple began to argue, when Francisco told Gamboa that she was taking their young son with her, police said.

That’s when Gamboa allegedly grabbed his wife’s arm and then the back of her neck to stop her, the arrest report stated. Police said she had several scratches and redness on her arms and neck from the incident.

Gamboa admitted to police he tried to stop his wife from taking their son, and he was arrested.

Gamboa, a former Olympic gold medalist, last competed in March, scoring a TKO 4 stoppage over Jorge Solis in Atlantic City, NJ.
