Former three-division world champ, Fernando Montiel (44-3-2, 34 KOs), will be returning to active duty June 25th at Estadio Banorte in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico against two-time former world title challenger, Venezuela’s Nehomar Cermeño (20-3, 12 KOs).

Montiel will be looking to come back after February’s devastating second round TKO loss to Nonito Donaire. Montiel has held world titles at flyweight, super flyweight, and bantamweight over the course of nearly fifteen years in the sport.

Cermeño recently dropped a split decision to Mexico’s Victor Terrazas in a January jr. featherweight contest. The Venezuelan former interim titlist has been a fixture in the bantamweight rankings and is best known for dropping two close split decisions losses to long-reigning WBA bantamweight champ, Anselmo Moreno.
