This Saturday, welterweight contender, Mike Jones (24-0, 18 KOs), is being given a gimme against club fighter, Raul Muñoz (22-13-1, 16 KOs) at the South Philly Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

Jones’ last two fights have been against veteran contender, Jesus Soto Karass, resulting in a controversial majority decision win in the first bout and then a unanimous decision victory in the rematch.

Jones’ name has been mentioned in title talk before, but with Pacquiao, Mayweather, and Victor Ortiz otherwise entertained until next year, the Philly-based 147-pounder may be cooling his heels and staying busy until a money fight is possible. (Jones is the #1 contender for Pacquiao’s WBO belt)

Muñoz, who has gone 4-6-1 in his last eleven contests and has yet to notch a quality win over a noteworthy opponent in 16 years of career, has suffered KO losses against the likes of Joel Casamayor, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Alfonso Gomez, Austin Trout, Enrique Ornelas, and Sam Soliman. He’s also dropped decision losses to Hector Camacho, Yori Boy Campas, and Dmitriy Salita.
