Defending WBA lightweight champion, Brandon Rios (27-0-1, 20 KOs) is not taking any shortcuts as he defends this Saturday against former two-time title challenger, Urbano Antillon (28-2, 20 KOs) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California as part of a Showtime Championship Boxing feature.
Rios is coming off a stellar 18-month run which saw him beat fellow prospects Jorge Teron and Anthony Peterson in exciting fashion as well as stop defending WBA titlist, Miguel Acosta for his first taste of a world title.
Antillon is seven months removed from nearly taking the WBC lightweight belt from Humberto Soto in a knock down, drag out war ultimately decided by just one point on two scorecards.
Both fighters have Miguel Acosta as a common opponent– In February, Rios stopped Acosta in ten rounds while Antillon, in 2009, was TKO’d by Acosta in nine.
