Fighting on the undercard of the Marquez Brothers show in Cancun, Saturday night, Nicaragua’s Roman “El Chocolatito” Gonzalez (28-0, 23 KOs) will put up his WBA jr. flyweight title against Mexican former world title challenger, Omar Salado (22-3-2, 13 KOs).
The all-action Gonzalez, making the second defense of his title, is also a former WBA strawweight champion. In his last contest, he won a unanimous 12-round decision over Mexican veteran, Manuel “Chango” Vargas.
Challenger, Salado, has dropped two of his last three and generally falters against elite-level opposition, but has been in the ring with the likes of Ulises Solis, Julio Cesar Miranda, Luis Concepcion, and Gilberto Keb Baas over the course of a nine year career.
