BJ Flores returns to action against Nicholas Iannuzzi, Saturday July 23

Former cruiserweight contender BJ “El Peligroso” Flores (24-1, 15 KOs) takes on gatekeeper Nicholas “The Showstopper” Ianuzzi (16-2, 9 KOs) on Saturday July 23, from The O’Reilly Center in Springfield, Missouri. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds.

After last November’s unanimous decision loss to Danny Green, Flores is looking to return to title contention. With only 1 fight in the last 23 months, and sitting outside the top 10 in all relevant rankings, Flores looks to have a long road back to title contention. Flores’ flagship wins have come over former light heavyweight title contender Epifanio Mendoza (TKO4), and knockout artist Darnell Wilson.

The 35-year old Iannuzzi may be best known for snapping cruiserweight contender Lateef Kayode’s 14-fight KO streak in February. In a fight most expected to end in a knockout, Iannuzzi walked away with a wide decision loss, while most observers saw a closer fight.
