Former flyweight titlist Eric Morel (44-2, 22 KOs) returns to action against Daniel Quevedo (13-11-2, 8 KOs), Saturday August 13 on the undercard of Agbeko-Mares at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds in the bantamweight division.

Morel needs a victory Saturday night to preserve his upcoming title shot against WBA bantamweight champion Anselmo Moreno – his second shot at bantamweight gold. After taking a split decision victory over Gerry Penalosa in February 2010, Morel withdrew from his WBO-mandated title bout with Fernando Montiel, scheduled for July. Morel returned to action in December against the oft-defeated Juan Jose Beltran. An easy win over Luis Maldonado in April helped Morel secure his October 15 fight with Moreno.

Quevedo has won his last 3, to bring his winning percent above .500. Having never faced a world class opponent, Morel will be a huge step up in class for the newly-crowned Mexico super bantamweight belt holder. Quevedo last fought on May 28, scoring a first-round knockout victory over Jesus Navarro.
