4-Round Boxing News Brief (Latest on Juanma Lopez, Rubio, Epix, More)

— Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27 KOs) will be returning to the ring October 1 against fringe contender, Mike Oliver (25-2, 8KOs) at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

— Cesar Seda’s (20-1, 15 KOs) original opponent, Cuban Gold Medalist, Yan Berthelemy, has been pulled from this Friday’s card at the Auditorio Juan Pachín Vicéns in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Seda will now face Mexico’s Jose Silveira (12-4, 4KOs). Silveira last fought in July, dropping a one-sided unanimous 10-round decision to Christopher Martin.

— Premium cable channel, EPIX, will be televising the August 27 bout between Ruslan Chagaev and Alexander Povetkin. They will also air the Robert Helenius-Siarhei Liakhovich heavyweight bout. The telecast will begin at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT. The live stream of the bouts will also be available on their website: www.EpixHD.com

— The WBC’s #1 middleweight contender, Marco Antonio Rubio (51-5-1, 44KOs), will take a “stay busy” fight September 3 against Ghana’s Mohammed Akrong (13-3, 10 KOs) at the Centro de Convenciones in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
